In recent past we read about no more firmware update for P990, W950 and M600. But there was a very strong reaction from the customers. In the response, Sony Ericsson listens the customers and promises another firmware update. The next firmware release for the P990 and W950 will be available from the Sony Ericsson Update Service from August 2007.

“In response to recent feedback from users and as a result of additional internal testing, Sony Ericsson has determined to offer a further firmware update for the P990 and W950 Walkman® phone. This move illustrates Sony Ericsson’s ongoing commitment to its existing ‘smartphone’ customers and the company’s desire to be responsive to customer feedback in order to provide an optimal user experience.
The next firmware release for the P990 and W950 will be available from the Sony Ericsson Update Service from August 2007.”

The UIQ series has always been a complex operating system, which needed an inquisitive mind to work around its nuances. I used a p800 for four years. It had its issues, RAM, Errors, but I had it ticking like a Rolex once I got the hang of it.
Unfortunately people don’t have time or patience to download System Managers, new firmware, replacement software for the built in ones that don’t do the job well enough. Most people want it perfect out of the box. Unlucky for them!!
