BlackBerry Messenger 5 is available now. It is supported for BlackBerry handheld software v4.5 or higher. The new version comes with lots of new features including -

Create an avatar, share pictures, videos, voice notes and more with multiple contacts at once, all users can display their unique barcode for other BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 users to scan and add to their contact list, see what your friends are listening to by viewing their song titles and personalize BlackBerry Messenger with a display picture.
To install navigate to www.blackberry.com/messenger from your phone’s browser to start the OTA download.

The RIM announces the availability of BlackBerry Curve 8520 in Singapore by the end of October. This is one of the most recent addition to the BlackBerry Curve devices. The Curve 8520 will be available from SingTel, M1, and StarHub.
The key features of the device are:

Full QWERTY leyboard with innovative touch sensitive trackpad and dedicated media keys
Quad Band phone
2 MP camera with zoom and video recording
Advanced media player
BlackBerry Internet Service support
256 MB of flash memory

BlackBerry New Design for 2008?

It seems that we will see angular keypad in some of Blackberry devices next year. A patent by the Canadian company shows an angular keypad that it claims will make inputting text easier. Most probably next year (2008) we may get new BlackBerry models with the new keyboard and the touch sensitive display………… and equipped with the scroller like LG Shine.

Japanese Text Input Support for BlackBerry 8707h

NTT DoCoMo and Research In Motion (RIM) has announced Japanese-language text input support for the BlackBerry 8707h smartphone, which is available in Japan via DoCoMo.

The launch of Japanese-language support will also include the localization of BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

The localized BlackBerry software is expected to be available beginning this summer and will be pre-loaded on the BlackBerry 8707h.

AT&T and RIM introduces the BlackBerry Curve

AT&T and RIM announced the introduction of the BlackBerry Curve.

AT&T will be the first wireless carrier in North America to offer the BlackBerry Curve in wireless retail and business channels beginning Thursday, May 31. Available in the U.S. exclusively from AT&T, the smallest and lightest full QWERTY BlackBerry handset can be used by AT&T customers within the broadest domestic and international coverage area for wireless data services of any U.S. carrier.
